Sorry for the long hiatus

Hey fellow book lovers! Sorry for the long hiatus! I cannot believe that the last time I did a review, I was 14! Heres a quick update about me. I finished my very important 'o' levels exam last year and I'm currently in a new school. I have been feeling really overwhelmed and tired the past couple of week due to boy problems, bitchy girls, school and lack of sleep. These are the same reasons why I have decided to start my book blog again. I realized how much i miss the place I was in 3 years ago when I was writing this blog and as silly as it sounds I'm trying to feel that way again. By the way, if you are someone like me who is into making friends and chatting online, please hit me up on Facebook : Kaarthiga Manimaran. I would love to be a  listening ear to anyone who needs it :)

Back to books! I have read multiple books the past couple of years so I will slowly but surely do reviews on them. Moreover, I am currently reading a book called The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks. I am only into the first chapter but I'm already hooked! Will be doing a review on it as soon as I finish it! So keep a look out for that.

Thank you for reading

Bringing the Summer

Synopsis: It’s the lazy end of summer and Freya is about to start her A levels. Her brother Joe died a year ago, but she is slowly coming to terms with his death. She is beginning to feel ready for something new – a change. And then a railway accident brings her into contact with the gorgeous Gabe. Freya is drawn not just to his blond good looks, but everything about him, including his large, shambolic, warm and loving family, which seems to Freya so different from her own.
And then Gabe’s clearly troubled older brother makes it clear he is interested in Freya – and Freya has some decisions to make about what she really wants...

Bringing the Summer is the sequel to Breathing Underwater. Bringing the Summer is by one of my favourite authors, Julia Green. She has written many heart whelming books. I was very excited for Bringing The Summer because I was very attached to Freya (the main character) in the earlier book. I was anxious to see how Freya's life continues.

I have to mention that the book Breathing Underwater really changed me. It may sound weird that a book can change the thoughts, goals and believes of a person but it did. I could relate to many things from both the books. They changed my perspective and now I appreciate the things I have.

Bringing the Summer is definitely suitable for those at the point in life when they try to find their calling. It showed the various emotions and obstacles that Freya faced. When you read the book, you will feel like you are the character because it was very well described.I was hooked to this book, like I am with every one of Julia Green's novels. I can promise you that anyone will enjoy this book the way I did.

I end with a quote from Bringing The Summer :
"Take your time. Friends, boyfriends: don't ever settle for less than the best."
What I learn from this is that we must always aim for the best that we deserve and that we should not stop until we get that. One life live it well. (:

Thank you for reading.

The Medusa Project (series)

Sypnosis:Fourteen years ago, scientist William Fox implanted four babies with the Medusa gene – a gene for psychic abilities. Fox’s experiment left a legacy: four teenagers – Nico, Ketty, Ed and Dylan – who have each developed their own distinct and special skill according to how the gene has interacted with their personalities.

Review: I enjoyed the series. It was fast paced and exciting. The characters in the stories were adventurous and daring. I realised that every chapter ended with a mysterious or suspicious event that caused me to be hooked to the books. The stories had everything, from scheming villains to defusing a bomb two seconds before it explodes. I would recommend this to any thrill seeker. I wish I could meet Sophie McKenzie to tell her how amazing her books are!

Cryer's Cross

Sypnosis: Kendall loves her life in small town Cryer's Cross, Montana, but she also longs for something more. She knows the chances of going to school in New York are small, but she's not the type to give up easily. Even though it will mean leaving Nico, the world's sweetest boyfriend, behind.

But when Cryer's Cross is rocked by unspeakable tragedy, Kendall shoves her dreams aside and focuses on just one goal: help find her missing friends. Even if it means spending time with the one boy she shouldn't get close to... the one boy who makes her question everything she feels for Nico.

Determined to help and to stay true to the boy she's always loved, Kendall keeps up the search--and stumbles upon some frightening local history. She knows she can't stop digging, but Kendall is about to find out just how far the townspeople will go to keep their secrets buried....
Review: I felt that Lisa McMann wrote a unique and gripping story that got me gasping for air.It was simply brilliant. The story was incredibly detailed that I could imagine the story in my head.I felt as if I was watching a movie. The characters' personalities were interesting and captivating.I also felt that the ending was just a tiny bit abrupt. However, I still enjoyed the book so much and would recommend this to teenagers 14 and above.

Wake Trilogy

Sypnosis: or seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people's dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie's seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.

She can't tell anybody about what she does -- they'd never believe her, or worse, they'd think she's a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn't want and can't control.

Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else's twisted psyche. She is a participant....
Review: This was definitely an amazing book. I could not stop reading. It was certainly brilliant. I got to admit I am someone very emmotional. Hence, during the middle part of the book, GONE, I was crying when Janie decides isolation. Of course, I was relieved when she chose a better lifestyle with Cabel at the end of the book. I wish there would be a continuation. (Even though that seems pretty impossible). I recommend this book for those teenagers above 14. My favourite character would be Cabel. He seems so perfectly sweet and so supportive towards Janie. An amazing book that would leave you in awe.

Coming up is never easy. These two dreamers will have to put everything on the line and do whatever it takes to succeed. It's the new American dream, and the sky's the limit. All they need is one shot.
Review:  The World Is Mine is the first book in the come up series.Love this book! Just simply inspiring! This book, like I said in my earlier post, is a form of encouragement for youths who are dreamers. I recommend the come up series to every dreamer who believes in himself. The book ended with a unpleasant ending.I completed this book today in school. The ending of the book was left hanging as it will be continued in the second book, Cant hold me down. The ending got me excited to read the book that I rushed to the near by library to get the second book! I will review on the second book soon! Keep dreaming till then.:)
